Super Short Story (246): Hair
The old lady dyed her hair jet black.
So black was it that
if he didn’t take a second glance,
he wouldn’t realise she is old.
As he took a closer look,
he saw that she was scowling…
perhaps at not being offered a seat on the bus.
Well, maybe no one looked close enough to know she was really old.
Isn’t it her own fault,
for pretending to look young,
while wanting to be treated old?
Does she expect others
to focus on her real age or illusion of youth?
Buddha knows how to age gracefully?
Of course the Buddha is a master of ageing gracefully. Even when manifesting old age and sickness, the Buddha was never whiney. He exemplified acceptance of impermanence of the body by showing no attachment while cherishing what he can do with his body to guide others.
