Indignation : Almost Tonglen

107246_color_4He had an ill feeling which he could not easily describe. She suggested some terms for him to consider… ‘Rage, Ennui, Despair… Indignation.’ He settled for the last word. Indignation – ‘Anger aroused by something unjust, unworthy, or mean.’

He felt a great sense of relief, as if his demon had been named, and is doomed to be thereupon exorcised once and for all. But it thrived on… as the name of the demon echoed in his mind… ‘Indignation, indignation, indignation….’ He realised he was feeding the demon by letting indignation possess him, haunt on. He sucked in a deep breath, reminded himself that if there is nothing to be done in the moment about the indignation, it is only wise to let it go. He heaved the deep breath out, along with the stale heaviness of indignation, as he visualised it disintegrating into thin air. Ahhh… Gone for good!
