I Hope You Have the ‘Time of Your Life’

Time of Your Life (Green Day)

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

Comments: ‘Now’ is always a turning point for the rest of our lives,
that eternal fork between the past and the future.
Time is the river we must flow in.
We must change, but we can change the way we want too.

So make the best of this test
and don’t ask why.
It’s not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

Comments: ‘Now’ is always a test of how well you can handle life.
There’s no need to ask why some inexplicable negative karmic stuff happen,
as long as we learn from them,
on how to prevent them from happening again.

[Chorus:] It’s something unpredictable
but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Comments: ‘Now’ always presents much that is unpredictable,
but we can make it alright by taking it in mindful good spirit,
by changing ‘now’ for the better.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Comments: ‘Now’ is the only time to create and ‘capture’ good memories,
by living this moment fully, without regrets,
such that all memories on hindsight will be wonderful.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.
For what it’s worth,
it was worth all the while. [Chorus…]

Comments:

Reflect on our past decisions and actions
to learn well and all will be worthwhile.

‘Now’ is always the time of your life.
I hope you have the time of your life.
Miss ‘now’ and you miss the time of your life.
If life is lived in a worthy way for even one moment, it will always be worthy.

The video shows ordinary folks in their everyday lives
suddenly paying attention, basking in the ‘now’,
living in the moment in spite the ‘dreariness’ of it all.
With awareness of ‘now’, everything becomes fresh, magical.
With mindfulness, we all come alive.

Mindfulness is the path to the deathless;
Heedlessness is the path to death.
The mindful do not die;
But the heedless are as if dead already.

– The Buddha
(Dhammapada)
