To Lend Money or Not

A Tit for a Tat (114)

Tit: Should I lend money to him?
Tat:
I wouldn’t lend a huge amount of money to a friend.
Tit: Why not help a friend? Is your friendship not worth that amount?
Tat:
It’s worth more than that.
Tit: What do you mean?
Tat:
It’s priceless. I wouldn’t want a friend to shy away because he can’t return the amount.
Tit: But he might shy away because you don’t lend him the money.
Tat: If our friendship is not worth more than that amount, it’s too bad.
Tit: Sounds cold and unhelpful!
Tat: Is it? I don’t lend money to friends but I give it instead.
Tit: Huh?
Tat: I prefer to prepare not getting the money back!

  1. A true friend will lend a hand and a sincere friend will return the favour.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

  2. If you think hard enough, it’s just money. And you probably save your friend’s life with it. But, we still have to do it with wisdom, the last thing we want is to lend him or her money to feed his or her addictions.

  3. No one wants to borrow if they can afford to..
‘Lend’ whatever amount you can afford with a heart that it will not be returned. Relationship stays happy and relax! no more repayment life after life 🙂

  4. Hmmm… there are compulsive borrowers too. So feeding their habit can be bad for them in the long run. Whether one expects return of money or not, those who borrow but never return when they can will still create negative karma.

    🙁
