Get To Lose

The endlessly greedy
are like one
who gathers fallen coins
into pockets with holes,

walking in circles,
getting richer
yet poorer at the same time,
in a futile cycle of getting and losing,

for material wealth is always lost
before or upon death,
no matter how much one has.
It is the opposite of spiritual wealth.

  1. Greed really takes away all enjoyment because we never stop to enjoy and always thinking that we have not enough. How much is really enough? In an affluent society, a simple meal may not appeal to many but in a starving place, the most simple meal is the wealthiest dish simply because they had enough of poverty. Who is the real ‘poor” in this scenario?
