Smelly Skin Bag

Stonepeace said,
‘Beauty is only skin deep
and the skin is not very deep.’

A Buddhist saying says,
‘This body is but
a smelly skin bag (臭皮囊).’

Indeed,
a bag made of skin,
that smells, and carries the smelly inside.

We try to forget this,
as we disguise our stench
with soaps and perfumes.

How about adorning ourselves
with the fragrance of virtue instead?
How about spreading this true incense everywhere?
