In the trailer of ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, this was uttered –
‘Everything will be alright in the end.
So if it’s not alright, it is not yet the end.’
While this might sound like typical
‘look on the bright side of life’
possibly blind and unfounded optimism,
it is actually true in terms of the Buddha’s teachings.
How so?
As long as we are not yet Buddhas,
we are not totally yet alright.
Yet, as long as we are not yet Buddhas,
we can still become Buddhas (because we all have Buddha-nature).
As such, everything is indeed alright in the end,
if ‘alrightness’ refers to Buddhahood.
If it’s not alright in this sense,
it is not the end of the path of practice towards Buddhahood yet.
So do strive on with diligence!
