Literal Or Figurative?

When the Buddha speaks literally,
he doesn’t say it is figurative.
There is no two ways about it.

When the Buddha speaks figuratively,
he says it is figurative.
It is not to be taken literally.

It’s interesting how scriptures are sometimes twisted
from their literal (or figurative) meanings
to assumed figurative (or literal) ones to suit personal preferences.
