The past affects
the present
a lot…
but…
The present affects
the future
a lot too.
So…
How about resolving
the past
in the present
and…
How about changing
the future
in the present too?

I don’t know how it oould resolve the past in the present, as past are planted karma seeds (be it good or bad) and they will ripen when the respective seeds matures into fruits. Perhaps you mean that in the process of growing, the planted seeds (karma) could be further fertilized with more good karmas in this life (like sunshine, good fertilizer and correct amount of water). Am I right with my comtemplation?
If we don’t resolve past regrets in the present, when can we resolve them in? Not all past karmic seeds will ripen if we disable or mitigate their effects in time – in the present. More on this can be learnt at http://thedailyenlightenment.com/2009/08/how-to-easier-stomach-a-pinch-of-salt
The past is over, no use thinking about it.
Just focus and live well in the present.
Then the future will take care of itself.
The past is worth reflecting over, so as to learn from our mistakes, repent and not let history repeat. This reflection happens in the present; without being caught up in the past.
