Wandering Thought #87: Reason
Everything happens in our lives for a reason (or more). Whatever occurs naturally results from a web of causes, conditions and effects. (Call it karmic interdependent origination if you will.) Be it fortunate or unfortunate events, which happened due to whatever recognisable or unfathomable reasons, the point is not to simply be smug or sad accordingly, but to mindfully take them in our stride, to learn whatever lessons we can from them with a sense of gratitude and humility. For it is just as easy to forget to learn anything of value when things are going very well, as when things are not going very well. Missing these lessons that bring lasting value, even the ‘best’ but fleeting experiences will go to waste.
