No Sorrow, No Joy?

1A story from ‘How To Be Happy’ by Eleanor Davis… Is this not thought-provoking satire of how many see happiness as the polar opposite of sadness, which makes it both relatively real and unreal? (In the story, such happiness had become a marketplace commodity. Get the book and join the seminar!)

The problem with such fleeting worldly happiness is not just that it is conditioned by also fleeting sadness, the quest and attachment to it surely distracts us from the goal of True Happiness that we all seek.

What is True Happiness? It is happiness that is not possible only because of sadness, that is not at the mercy of sadness, that is spiritual, calm, clear, stable and lasting. It is liberating and enlightening. In Buddhism, we call it Buddhahood!
