Some Dharma Advice #1
[1]
Patience
The louder you speak with anger,
the less will it be heard with patience.
[2]
Spitefulness
Spitefulness might lead to some relief,
but it does not lead to true improvement,
and if actualised in word and action,
will lead to true damage of relationships.
[3]
Grace
If you say you have accepted blame gracefully,
but still complain about being blamed unfairly,
you have yet to accept blame gracefully.
[4]
Clarification
If an accusation is not true,
explain clearly to clarify at least three times.
If ignored, ignore the accusation thereafter.
You have already sufficiently done what you should.
[5]
Stress
Never become stressed.
Stress is always self-induced,
unmindfully chosen as a non-solution that worsens matters,
when you can choose to be calmer and clearer instead.
[6]
Mercy
Have mercy on yourself
by controlling the internal factors of your emotions.
Never let yourself be at the mercy
of the uncontrollable external factors of others’ emotions.
If they have lost control of their emotions,
why should you lose yours too?
[7]
Struggle
Never struggle.
Just deal with what you should.
To struggle is to be unwilling
to face and deal with it directly.
Karma requires acceptance before it can be changed.
[8]
Responsibilities
When sick,
rest sufficiently first.
When sufficiently rested,
handle what you should.
[9]
Mindfulness
If mindful of Buddha,
you will be like the Buddhas.
If mindful of inner demons,
you will be like your inner demons.
[10]
Becoming
What you are mindful of
is what you will become.
Be more calm and clear
with mindfulness of Buddha (Nianfo).
