Further Reflections

37:

Spiritual cultivation is
the relinquishing of bad habits
and the perpetuating of pure habits.

Have courage to stand up
for what is right
and to stand up
against what is not right.

39:

Sound courage arises
from appropriate confidence.

40:

Never follow the big mundane crowd.
Look for the spiritual crowd,
even if it is not as big.

41:

All major addictions arise
from minor indulgences.

42:

What not worth being addicted to
is not worth indulging in even once.

43:

Ill habits damage
our physical and spiritual health.

44:

The easiest way to end bad habits
is to substitute them with good habits.

45:

We are not totally free now
but we are free enough
to choose to be better now.

46:

If you do not control your habits,
your habits will control you.

47:

You are free to abstain,
unless you abstain
from being free.
