Have You Learnt the Dharma Long?

Part 1:

Shi’an: To the temple please.
Cabbie: Are you a Buddhist?
Shi’an: Yes, are you one too?
Cabbie: Yes. Have you been learning the Dharma long?
Shi’an: I don’t know how long is considered long,
but as long as I’m not yet a Buddha, it’s not long enough!

Part 2:

Cabbie: I think it’s hard to connect some people to the Dharma. There’s the need to 随缘 (follow the conditions).
Shi’an: We can try to 制造因缘 (create causes and conditions) too.
For example, when we practise mindfulness of Buddha (Amituofo) well,
we are creating a solid karmic link with him,
so as to be able to reach his Pureland,
so as to train well as Bodhisattvas,
so as to be able to better connect with all beings to help them!
