He had two solid locks
on his main door,
one of which he keeps clearly locked,
while the other he keeps clearly unlocked –
even when he is out.

He thought that the one solid lock
was already secure enough,
while the other lock being unlocked
suggested that he might be home,
which might keep thieves away.
This was his double security of half security.
